CUET Results 2022: In case of tie between candidates, this is what Jamia Millia Islamia will do

CUET 2022 results: In case of a tie during admissions based on CUET scores, where two or more applicants have the same marks and have also chosen the same programme, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will give preference to the higher candidate, the registrar said from Nazim Hussain Jafri University. The Indian Express.

JMI’s tie breaker formula is simple, unlike the one announced by Delhi University (DU) in which a candidate’s Board exam marks will play a crucial role in case of a tie. For example, the candidate who has secured the highest marks in the best three subjects in the class 12 examination will be given preference and failing that, DU will consider the person who has secured the highest marks in the best four subjects.

This year, JMI has adopted the Central University Entrance Test or CUET for only eight degree programs. These include six BA (Hons) programmes: Sanskrit, Hindi, French and Francophone Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies, Economics and History. The other two programs are B.Sc Biotechnology and B.Voc (Solar Energy). Admission to the rest of the courses was based on their annual entrance exams.

The university has started the new academic year for first-year students in all programs except the previous eight covered by CUET. Jafri told this newspaper that JMI is keen to finalize admissions for the eight programs to synchronize its schedule with the others. For this purpose, the university will soon write to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to seek the results data of the candidates.

“Since the CUET result was declared this morning, we will now request the NTA to send us the score cards of those who had applied for the eight Jamia programs that are under CUET. After that, on the basis of these scorecards, we will decide the final shortlisted candidates,” Jafri said.

He also mentioned that the academic sessions of other degree programs at JMI have already started. Therefore, the University wants to launch the remaining eight programs soon. “We do not want the students to suffer, as it was not their fault that the CUET exams were postponed several times. It’s not their fault, and they shouldn’t be punished for it. Therefore, we want to start their season as soon as possible,” he added.

CUET is the first single gateway for undergraduate admissions in all central universities. Official data from the NTA suggests that 90 universities that use the CUET scoring criteria for admissions this year received nearly 58,500 applications. Jamia Millia Islamia received more than 1.44 lakh applications.
