UGC NET 2022: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the result of UGC NET 2022 soon. Along with the result, NTA will also release the final answer key of the exam conducted in four phases. UGC-NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for “Assistant Professor” and “Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor” in Indian Universities and Colleges.
While waiting for the result, here are the answers to all frequently asked questions related to the UGC NET exam.
Question 1: When was UGC NET 2022 conducted?
Answer: The UGC-NET December 2021 and June 2022 (combined cycles) was conducted in four phases this year. Phase I was conducted from July 9 to 12, Phase II from September 20 to 23, Phase III was conducted from September 29 to October 1, and Phase 4 was take place from October 8 to 14.
Question 2: When UGC NET Provisional Answer Key Released?
Answer: NTA released the provisional answer key for the first three phases on October 18, while the provisional answer key for phase 3 was released on October 21. Candidates were given a window to challenge any answer given in the provisional answer key.
Question 3: What is the qualification criteria for UGC NET?
Answer: Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or eligibility for Assistant Professorship depends on candidate’s aggregate performance in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET. Candidates who qualify only for the Assistant Professorship need not be considered for the award of the JRF. Candidates who provide proof of eligibility for Assistant Chair shall be governed by the rules and regulations for the recruitment of Assistant Professors of the respective Universities/Colleges/State Governments, as the case may be.
Question 4: Why were the December 2021 and July 2022 cycles of UGC NET merged?
Answer: UGC-NET is conducted twice a year. Due to the postponement of December 2021 UGC-NET due to Covid-19, the June 2022 UGC-NET schedule has been delayed. To regularize UGC-NET exam cycles, NTA merged both UGC-NET December 2021 and June 2022. (combined cycles) so that they can be conducted together in CBT mode.
Question 5: What is the validity of the JRF scholarship?
Answer: UGC had announced that the validity of JRF Research Fellowship (JRF) award letter has been extended for one year. This decision was also taken keeping in mind the challenges scholars had to face amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Question 6: How many candidates appeared for UGC NET last year?
Answer: In 2021, a total of 1266509 candidates registered for UGC NET out of which 671288 appeared and 43730 qualified the exam. The exam was also held in two combined cycles last year due to the pandemic
