GATE 2023: IIT Kanpur adds 23 new exam centres

With the addition of these new cities, GATE 2023 will now be conducted in 219 cities across India. “The decision has been taken keeping in mind the convenience of the students, especially from the rural belts. As this year’s organizing institute, IIT Kanpur aims to reach as many students as possible from every nook and corner,” states the official press release shared by the university.

Last year, GATE 2022 was conducted in 206 cities. However, this year 10 of the previous cities were dropped as these exam centers were facing operational issues.

The exam will be conducted jointly by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.

The online application portal will be operational on the official website — gate.iitk.ac.in — from August 30 and the registration process will conclude on September 30. After that, candidates will have an opportunity to fill the application with a fee till 7th October 2022. Admit cards for GATE 2023 will be released on the official website on 3rd January 2023. .

This time, GATE 2023 exam has been scheduled on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th February. After that individual answer sheets will be available on 15th February and answer key will be released on 21st February. Candidates will have time from February. From February 22 to 25 to raise challenges and objections regarding the answer key. After considering all the challenges raised by the candidates, the results will be declared on March 16 and the individual score card will be made available on March 22.

The GATE 2023 exam will be conducted in a Computer Based Test (CBT) format. It will be a three-hour exam, which will be divided into the General Aptitude (GA) section and the subjects selected by the candidate. There will be a total of 65 questions: 10 (GA) + 55 (subject). While each correct answer will give the student one or two marks, for 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for wrong answer and similarly for 2 marks MCQ, 2 marks will be deducted /3 mark for wrong answer. . However, there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers to MSQ or NAT question.
