How can science students crack CLAT?

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an examination designed to assess law aspirants from across the country, who seek admission to the BA LLB program at one of the 22 national law universities spread across the country.

The BA LLB program is designed to train law aspirants on courtroom behavior as well as enhance their legal knowledge base. The ability to present arguments and debate issues are other job requirements. To improve their education and have a successful career, students in the field of science should have the talent to learn new things.

Common skills for Science and Law students

To acquire these basic skills, the prerequisite is analytical ability, logical thinking, open mind and a keen interest in this field. Due to the nature of their stream, science students are expected to be good at analytical reasoning. This can help students in the science sector if they choose law as a career option.

Also, when looking at the use of forensic science in the law, this can be a strong area for science students. In these areas, students (who are trained by making good use of data and evidence to prove their points) can shine at work.

Apart from this, the CLAT exam pattern is mainly based on reasoning ability, legal and logical reasoning and quantitative techniques, which are believed to be the strength of science students. They can easily crack the exam if they focus on the exam pattern and practice the previous year question papers.

The exam pattern is as follows:

Subjects Number of questions Brands
English language 28-32 questions 28-32
News, including General Knowledge 35-39 questions 35-39
Legal reasoning 35-39 questions 35-39
logical reasoning 28-32 questions 28-32
Quantitative techniques 13-17 questions 13-17
total 150 q 150 marks

In India, the legal profession has evolved considerably over time. Legal professionals are not only limited to the courtroom representing their clients but also work in corporate firms, IT companies, administrative services and law firms.

Hence, this opens up job opportunities and can also provide an exciting change for students from the science stream (apart from traditional opportunities like engineering and medical courses).
