NEET PG 2022: Supreme Court allows NMC to extend admission schedule

NEET PG 2022: The Supreme Court today allowed the National Medical Commission (NMC) to extend the last date for admission of NEET PG aspirants. The apex has given time till November 25 to the commission to complete the admission process for postgraduate students.

The decision was taken by a bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli, who said the explanation provided by the NMC is “good faith”. NMC had sought this extension as according to an order passed by the Supreme Court in 2016, the commission cannot conduct admissions to PG medical courses after May 31.

However, the medical board stated that due to the Covid pandemic and the lockdowns caused by it, the counseling for the academic years 2020-21 and 2021-22 was not done on time, further delaying plus the beginning of the course.

Meanwhile, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) recently released the revised cut-off scores for NEET PG 2022 counseling on the official website: natboard.edu.in. The decision to lower the NEET PG cutoff was taken keeping in mind that a large number of seats had fallen vacant in the PG counseling conducted for admissions last year.

The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) also recently announced the NEET PG 2022 Second Round Counseling Final Result, which is available on the MCC official website: mcc.nic.in.
