New category added; Registration open until November 18

NIRF 2023 Classification: The Ministry of Education invites applications for the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking for the year 2023. Interested higher education institutions (HEIs) can register for the rankings of the ‘India on official website: nirfindia.org.

Institutes have until 17:00 on November 18 to register for these rankings.

This year, NIRF has added a new discipline namely Agriculture and Allied Sectors. In addition, the discipline of architecture has been renamed as Architecture and Planning.

Last year, there were only four categories – Global, Colleges, Universities and Research Institutions and seven subjects – Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Medicine, Architecture and Dentistry.

In the NIRF 2022 ranking, IISc Bangalore ranked first among all institutions in the research and university category, ranked second in the overall ranking. IIT Madras bagged the top position in the overall ranking category.

The National Law School of India University ranked first in the law category.

Meanwhile, IIM Ahmedabad was the top ranked management university. Last year, some 670 institutions participated in the rankings, of which 387 had no research publications.

Institutes were ranked based on different parameters in different disciplines. Some of the parameters include research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusion, among others.
